December 2016 Newsletter

December 2016 Newsletter

Well, another year has flashed by and here we are sending you our last newsletter of 2016. At the beginning of the year, who’d have predicted that we’d have our second female Prime Minister, be preparing to leave the European Union and be waiting for Donald Trump to be sworn in as President of the United States. It’s certainly been a year of the unexpected.

In other news, the makers of Toblerone have spaced out the triangular chunks in the bars and Mars has reduced the size of bags of Maltesers by 15%; but one thing’s for sure, our newsletter remains packed full of great content!

We hope you’ve found the articles we’ve brought to you throughout the year interesting and thought-provoking. We look forward to keeping you up-to-date with all things financial in 2017.

Meanwhile, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The Autumn Statement delivered by chancellor Philip Hammond on 23rd November offers the first major insight into the government’s financial plans both in the lead up to Brexit and in the period immediately following the UK’s departure from the EU.

How long does it take to sell a house these days?

A recent study has found that the average house in the UK now takes 91 days to sell. The figure is cited in the ‘City Rate of Sale’ report conducted by the Centre for Economic and Business Research (CEBR) and the Post Office, which examines the average amount of time properties are on the market in twenty major cities around the UK.
